And then she found us....

We have accepted a referral for a beautiful 5 year old girl from Ethiopia!!! She is sweet, and shy, and looks just a little bit mischievous (which fits just perfectly with our family)! I could go on and on…she is just wonderful! I feel like my heart might explode with happiness…yet all the emotions are very overwhelming…so much to process.

The last few months I have felt like Africa was pulling on my heart…I would tell N before bed that we just really needed to go and I didn’t know why. I couldn’t get it out of my head. Everything has been at a standstill while we wait for all the pieces to fall (back) in place, and I was ok with that. Then that Philip Philips song ‘Home’ would play on the radio and I would have this intense nesting feeling…a longing. Randomly on my birthday I decided to check the waiting child list and I saw this beautiful little face and immediately thought…I am going to be your Mama. I have checked the waiting child list before (it will crush you) and haven’t had that moment…that instant connection before. Our agency is not shy about telling you NO and I feel heart broken and rejected when they won’t share information. But, they didn’t say no. They told us her story, they led us through the steps, and they sent us the paperwork. We are still waiting on a few pieces to fall in place and we have a ton of documents to complete…but with a purpose and new sense of urgency.

We have waited and waited for ‘something’ never quite sure what or who it was…and then we saw her face, her beautiful little face and her heartbreaking eyes. We are in love.

Hello Sedona...

Every summer we try to make a trip to the mountains for some camping. Our spot has become Sedona…we love it there…we heal there…and we have a great time making memories there!
