Wit of a 3 year old...
The other night the 3 of us were sitting down at the table for dinner. We were having salad and tortellini; at first glance T was very happy with the dinner selection. She happily ate her salad and then started to work on the tortellini. A few bites in she announced that she wanted a "treat", followed by the usual question, "how many bites?" We said all of it. T sat and thought about it for a few seconds and then put her fork down and declared that she shouldn't eat any more tortellini. When we asked her why, she told us "I think they are made with a lot of sugar and sugar will make me small", this coming from the girl who 2 minutes earlier was ready for her "treat". I told her that was not true and that she needed to eat her dinner and the tortellini would make her big and strong. She picked up her fork and very dramatically placed a tortellini in her mouth, as she was chewing she very slowly started to slide down in her chair. By the time she was finished with her bite, all we could see above the table were her eyes and the top of her head. The comment that followed was priceless; she said "See, I told you they would make me small!" N and I were able to hold a straight face for maybe 2 seconds.
