I have had my cell phone for the last two years. I ordered it when we decided to move, at the time we were up for our 2 year upgrade. We both decided to get phones we really wanted. The phones were a BIG treat for us and we were both really excited. On an adventure to the outlet mall in our area I had my phone neatly tucked in the little phone pocket inside my purse. I wanted to take care of my new love. As kids normally do, Tae had to go potty; I am cringing thinking about the public restroom in the outlet mall. Since Tae was barely 3 at the time she still required some major assistance in the restroom (if you know what I mean…Oh who am I kidding, she still requires some major assistance). So there we were crammed into the nasty stall together, I bent over her to complete the task and the next thing I knew there was a ‘plunk’. A PLUNK!!! My new precious phone had slipped out of the little pocket and fallen past Tae’s booty straight into the pot, straight into Tae’s recent business!!! I gasped and Tae shouted at me “Why did you do THAT”….I must have had a burst of adrenalin or I was slipping into shock, because I did the unimaginable…I reached in and grabbed it.
Tae and I rushed to the sink and washed it with soap…I was thinking screw the don’t get it wet policy…It was covered in NASTY and if it had to get drenched in soap and hot water to be sanitary…so be it. After leaving the restroom I took the phone apart so it could dry. We stopped in a few cell phone stores and I told my shameful story. They shook their heads in disbelief and said the outcome did not look good. I was devastated.
We ran more errands and had lunch. I left the phone in pieces on the center console of the car so it could bake in the 110 degree sun, maybe dry out…maybe sanitize a bit more. On the final stretch home we decided to do a Donald’s run and get cones, I put the phone parts in the snack bag on the passenger’s side so I would have my hands free for my cone.
When we got home I was looking everywhere for my phone…I couldn’t seem to remember where I had put it. It had disappeared. Then I remembered the snack bag…then I asked N. He said he threw the snack bag away at the drive thru…at Donald’s!!!! So then I cried. And I got in the car and went back to fast food hell. I had to ask permission to look in the trash and all the employees found it hilarious, they did however give me some rubber gloves. It had only been about 30 minutes since we were there and I found it still contained in the snack bag…So that was a plus.
So after that day of cell phone disgust…it lived and has lasted the last two years. Can you believe I put that phone up to my face every day??? I sanitized it every way possible…honestly I think it is safe…I don’t touch handles on public doors, so it had to be sanitary in order for me to use it. So now the two year upgrade has come around again and we just got our next set of phones. One of the perks we loved about our old phones was the camera, it was a feature we hadn’t had before. We put them to good use and I have compiled all the pictures from our old phones. Some are pretty old so I really enjoyed looking at them today, though it did take me forever to download them.
So gross, but so funny! I know you're not the only person that happened to, well at least the first part. Combining the first and second part of the story, that might be a first. Adorable pictures though. Hope your new phone doesn't follow the same path as the last one!
ReplyDeleteOMG, that is hilarious! What are the chances - two nasties in one day? I'm dying over here. If it makes you feel any better, a few years ago, my overpriced designer (brand new) sunglasses fell off my head and into the toilet in a public restroom. And I'd already PEED. My MOM fished them out for me, washed them in the sink, then swabbed them down with alcohol. I think I owe her for the rest of my life.I love your photos.
